USDC award Cabot for flexible display materials

USDC award Cabot for flexible display materials
Cabot Printable Electronics and Displays, announced that it has received approximately $1.3M from the United States Display Consortium (USDC, www.usdc.org). The award will be used toward Cabot PEDs' $2.7M program to develop printable materials for the fabrication of low-cost flexible displays.

This award is a follow-on to Cabot's "Low-Cost Printing of Metallic Features for Flexible Displays" program. Years two and three of this program will focus on the printing of metallic interconnects using industrial inkjet printers. The program goal is to establish a manufacturing method compatible with web-based printing for the cost-effective manufacture of commercial flexible display products.

Dr. Karel Vanheusden, Strategic Programs Manager at Cabot PEDs comments,

"Cabot was very successful in year one of this program and now, with the assistance of USDC, we look forward to advancing our demonstrated metallic interconnect technology to the next phase. The display industry needs a low-cost additive printing technology, especially in the flexible displays sub-segment with its requirement for low-cost driver electronics. Using a staged approach, we will develop materials and industrial printing capabilities for segmented display backplanes, passive matrix backplanes and ultimately, active matrix backplanes."
