Flexible Non-Volatile Display in Colour

Fujitsu has announced a colour alternative to the typically monochrome electrophoretic displays being rolled out by Gyricon and E-ink. They will be on the market some time between April 2006 and March 2007. Fujitsu clearly shares the dream of its competitors that, rather than compete with the potentially more sophisticated and more expensive volatile OLEDs. Displays that need no power once they are switched can replace much of the signage in airports and supermarkets. Meanwhile, large area OLEDs are proving difficult to produce.
