Bad news from avian flu modelling in UK

Bad news from avian flu modelling in UK
According to statistical modelling carried out by the UK health Protection Agency, once one case of avian flu arrives in the UK, the spread will be almost impossible to contain. Travel restrictions, airport screening and other strategies will be largely ineffective. John Edmunds of the HPA centre for infections said "There is only one thing that can be done to stop it and that is to stamp it out at source and if you are lucky you can stop an pandemic developing". A 14.6 million stockpile of antiviral drugs is in place - enough for about one quarter of the UK population.

Food & Livestock Traceability 2006 conference will be held on February 1-2 2006 in Dallas, USA. This hot topic is driven by health scares, bioterrorism and new laws. It will become the largest RFID application but we cover DNA and many other vital technologies as well. For further details please visit {www.trackingfood.com}
