Speaker Biography

Jason Britton has been working in the field of Clinical Science since 1995. He started his career working in the National Health Service in field of diagnostic radiology. He moved to NHS Estates, Department of Health in 1998 and was one of the principal authors of facility design guidance on the implementation of hospital-based diagnostic imaging systems. He also provided extensive assistance to the government of Qatar on setting up a Picture Archive and Communication system within hospitals in Doha. He returned to working in the NHS at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in 2002 providing front line services to patients in the areas of equipment management and physiological measurement. It was here that he started the RFID project to track portable medical devices as these moved about the hospital. This is the first project of its type in Scotland and has recently made the finals of the British Computing Society IT industry Awards 2008 - Project Excellence, which are to be held in Reading at the beginning of October.
