Speaker BiographyPeter Fatelnig is currently Deputy Head of Unit at the European Commission in the area of Information Society and Media policies and technologies. In his work he follows research and developments in areas such as RFID, Internet of Things and the Future of the Internet in view of their societal and economic dimension and their policy implications. Prior to this position, Peter served as assistant to senior management and was involved in research project monitoring when joining the European Commission back in 1998. Before joining the European Commission he worked on international assignments for the consulting firm American Management Systems, and earlier for the European Space Agency, then posted in the Netherlands. Peter holds a master degree in Communication Engineering from the University of Technology in Graz, Austria. Company ProfileThe European Commission embodies and upholds the general interest of the Union and is the driving force in the Union's institutional system. Its four main roles are to propose legislation to Parliament and the Council, to administer and implement Community policies, to enforce Community law and to negotiate international agreements, mainly those relating to trade and cooperation.
