Presentation Summary

Analysts see a bright future for the long term success of NFC, mainly driven by killer applications like m-payment and m-ticketing. However these applications require a more complex setup in the NFC eco-system as well as enough critical mass at NFC enabled hand-sets.
The presentation will highlight the environment, where NFC can be exploited already today: Using NFC technology to enable existing services has been shown successfully in Austrian and German travel projects. Equipping closed user groups with NFC mobile phones allow to use the technology for tracing and tracking applications but also for innovative couponing, event management or physical access solutions.
In addition a focus will be given on the background how to develop and deploy NFC applications in an effective way.

Speaker Biography

Kurt Schmid has more than 25 year of business experience in the Security, Smart Card and RFID industry: He is co-founder and CEO of NEXPERTS, a solutions provider using NFC and mobile phones for tracing and tracking, m-marketing, m-payment, m-ticketing and couponing.

Before NEXPERTS Kurt Schmid was CEO of OMNIKEY, a company he grew to one of the world's top three players in the smart card reader business. Previously Kurt worked as CTO at Utimaco Safeware AG, a security and encryption specialist, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

Kurt Schmid, born in 1961, holds a Master in Business Administration and Computer Sciences from the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria and is holder of several patents.
