Speaker Biography

Stephen Barnes received a BSME from the University of New Mexico in 1993. He has extensive experience in micromachined actuators and optical structures in his capacity as a Research and Development Engineer at Sandia National Laboratories and MEMX. Currently he is a Senior Engineering Lead with Optomec, Inc. conducting advanced research and development in the area of Aerosol Jet(R) print systems for photovoltaic applications.

Company Profile

Optomec® is the world-leading provider of additive manufacturing systems for high-performance applications in the Electronics, Photovoltaic, and Aerospace & Defense markets. Optomec's M3D® Aerosol Jet Deposition System is a breakthrough additive technology enabling finer feature sizes than traditional ink-jetting and screen printing processes. The M3D system utilizes an innovative aerodynamic focusing technology that produces electronic and physical structures with feature sizes down to 10 microns. The M3D system supports a wide variety of materials including nanoparticle inks and screen-printing pastes, conductive polymers, insulators, adhesives, and even biological matter that can be accurately deposited by M3D onto non-planar substrates. M3D is a registered trademark of Optomec, Inc.
