Speaker Bio
David Margolese, Ph.D., is Vice President, Technology Development at ORFID Corporation. Two key application areas at ORFID are organic RFID and flexible OLED displays. Dr. Margolese manages ORFID's research and development efforts and in addition, is responsible for analyzing key industries, applications, intellectual property research, and develops corporate contacts to explore strategic partnering opportunities. He has more than 20 years of experience developing new materials and technologies in the semiconductor and related industries as well as extensive start-up experience in nanotechnology and semiconductor companies in technology and business development. He has consulted for companies engaged in a variety of technologies and he is author on 30 journal articles covering semiconductor technology, nanoparticle fabrication, sol-gel chemistry and catalysis.

ORFID Corp. is a development stage company designed to bring applications to the market place based on printable electronics. ORFID's mission is to develop applications in both displays and RFID based on novel organic electronic components with unique performance characteristics and with simple, inexpensive manufacturing processes. The first electronic organic component ORFID is developing is a disruptive Vertical Organic Field Effect Transistor (VOFET) technology with a novel architecture.
 
ORFID is based on pioneering research, issued patents, new intellectual property, engineering advancements and products emerging from two sources: The Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Precision Dynamics Corporation (PDC), a leading manufacturer and distributor of personal identification management products, including wearable RFID (radio frequency identification) devices.
 
ORFID was founded in 2003 as a corporate spin-out by Precision Dynamics, Convergent Ventures, a Los Angeles-based venture capital firm, and Professor Yang Yang, of UCLA.
